Surprise! We Got MARRIED

On May 20th, 2019, Eric and I tied the knot at the beautiful courthouse in downtown West Palm Beach, FL.

Here’s how it all unfolded:

My brilliant sister found this insanely nice AirBnb in PGA National and it could not have worked out better. Thanks Laur!

We spent the weekend leading up to the big day hanging out as one big happy family here.

We played Left, Right, Center, made amazing ribs for our parents (and my sister), and shared so many deep belly laughs together.

My mom won the first round of Left, Right, Center
Eric’s dad clearly won the second round haha

The condo even served as an amazing backdrop for our photoshoots.

I took so. many. photos. — I was testing out two tripods before the big day. They worked great!

Fast forward to the wedding day, Monday, May 20th, 2019.

We took these photos outside of the condo and just before heading down to the ceremony.

Eric and I drove down separately with our families to the courthouse so that we could have some form of a first look.

Despite leaving from two different locations, that weren’t super close to each other mind you, we somehow got off the highway at the same time and ended up right behind each other.

If that wasn’t enough, we found two side-by-side parking spaces in the courthouse garage.

So this is how we shared our first look, and I wouldn’t have changed a thing:

From here, it was off to the courthouse to have the ceremony.

Before the ceremony took place, we had to pay for it, which we could not do in advance.

So here we are ^ paying for the ceremony, which was held in that room in the background of this photo with the hearts on it.

Here’s what the room looked like inside:

We took a few photos before the ceremony to make sure we were all set up and ready to go:

This was interrupted when the guy behind the counter, Blake, changed into this, and we started the ceremony:

He performed a quick, two-and-a-half-minute ceremony and, just like that, we were married!!

The next stop was to find a place to take photos.

I had a spot by the water in mind beforehand but didn’t realize there was so much construction downtown.

So, after a quick change of plans and a drive over a bridge, we pulled off into a parking lot that we hoped could work.

We started taking these photos before realizing what we really stumbled upon:

Just around the corner from this spot ^, we found this next one:

As we kept walking further into this park, we found so many other gorgeous places to take photos.

We really got so lucky, especially since none of us had ever been here before. It was a total gem!

After about an hour of this, we were all pretty hot and ready to call it on the photoshoot. Fortunately we got a ton of good photos so it was the perfect time to stop!

We cooled off, Eric had an outfit change, and then we headed off to lunch at a beautiful restaurant in town.

From here, we took a breather at the condo before cutting into this delicious cake from Nina’s Fresh Bakery in Jupiter, FL:

Eric picked the top tier — which was an amazing vanilla cake with a fruity frosting filling that was made with real chunks of fresh raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries.

The bottom layer was a chocolate coconut cake that had so many coconut shreds in it. It was layered with a hazelnut frosting that was ah-mmazzzing.

We chose Nina’s because they don’t use artificial ingredients and everything was beyond fresh. They had the best buttercream and fondant I’ve ever had.

You could definitely taste the difference in the ingredients; the cake was delish.

To end the night, we all hung out one last time in the condo.

We had an amazing time laughing and reminiscing about the day and watching The Office.

At some point, we walked to PGA National as a group and shared a nice night cap.

The day was perfect from start to finish and I couldn’t be more grateful and #blessed with how things turned out.

I had no idea how this courthouse wedding was going to pan out but we really got spoiled. Thank you, Universe.

The weather was amazing and not as humid as the next day was. There were no clouds or rain in sight.

We all spent the weekend bonding as a group and merging the two families — something that we’ve done before but it had been ages.

I can’t speak for everyone but I can say that this turned into one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

My wedding exceeded any idea I could have ever imagined.

The day went without a hitch and it was stress-free, two things I wanted in my low-key wedding choice.

If you made it this far, THANK YOU! I appreciate that you took the time to read through our special day. It really was a memory we will cherish forever.

Unfortunately, shortly after our wedding, we lost Eric’s grandmother, Grandma Nina. She lived to an incredible age of 96 and was one feisty Italian.

So while Eric’s family lost one Italian, they gained another.

In honor of Grandma Nina, may she rest peacefully with Grandpa Joe.
